About Sikhism

Sikhism is a monotheistic religion founded in Punjab, India, in the 15th century by Guru Nanak Dev Ji and shaped by the nine Gurus who succeeded him. The word “Sikh” means “learner” or “disciple.”

Sikhs believe in one God, equality of all people, honest living, sharing with others, and service to humanity. The Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the holy scripture, is the eternal Guru of the Sikhs and contains teachings from Sikh Gurus and other saints from various faiths.
